Cat Sitting with Meg
We stayed for six weeks cat sitting at Wesley Hill, a small suburb of Castlemaine. Given that we had only sold our home 10 kilometers away 12 weeks earlier it was a suprize to many to see us back so soon. One minute we were off to see the world and were now back in the same supermarket, Post Office, garage etc, the most common remark was ‘I thought you had left’!!! We had a few things to attend to which we didn’t have time for before we sold so it was an ideal chance to get everything organised and cleared up ready for our adventures. We stayed in Jill and John’s home cat sitting while they went around England and France for the six weeks. This left us with the most gorgeous cat imaginable called Meg. She is just over 12 months of age and is the most curious cat I have ever met. She is also just so sociable it’s incredible. Meg loves being where you are and ‘helping’ with everything you do, whether it’s hanging out the washing, weeding or opening the wardrobe – nothing much happens with Meg being a part of it. Her purr is the loudest we have ever encountered and we got to hear it many times a day.

| To whom it may concernRobyn and Tony looked after our house for us while we were on a trip for 6 weeks from late September to early November 2009. We were delighted with their professionalism and the smooth operation of the whole process. We returned home from our trip to a clean home, watered garden, food in the fridge and a happy cat. We were very happy with their house sitting and would recommend them to others without hesitation. Feel free to contact us if you wish to be reassured regarding Robyn and Tony's house-sitting capabilities. John & Jill |

It was so easy to be a cat house sitter for MegWhile here we went along to The Parade for the Castlemaine Show. It was held on a Friday night starting about 6.30pm and the main street was alive with Mums, Dads, Grandparents, young people and heaps of young children. Have a look at some photos I took of local
Hot Rods
This is a fantastic evening and reminds me very much of my childhood in small Australian towns. No country Show would be complete without the
Police, Fire and Emergency Service vehicles leading the way.
We also caught up with
Jill and Ray
whose place was our very first house sit. It was fantastic to see them again. One of the things that happen when we housesit the homeowner is away so there is very little opportunity to sit and have a chat. We even went over to their farm and had a chance to meet up with all their dogs. It was wonderful to see them, to be honest we weren’t positive if they realised it was us or just excited to have visitors make a fuss of them. We remembered all of their names though which is pretty good seeing there are five of them and two look the same and the other three look the same. Lots of tail wagging though and it was great to see them again. Even the outside farm cat wandered over for a look-see.
Just before we left we had dinner with our previous neighbors and that was just lovely. Hours of chat about friends, family, pets, land care, drought and bushfires kept the night alive with interest. Jill and John had a really efficient vegetable garden which served us well. It was abundant with broad beans, peas, silver beet, carrots, parsnips, celery, lettuce and parsley. Their garden is a real picture; especially considering the area is terribly stricken with drought. They have invested in lots of water tanks to capture the rainwater so the gardens can be watered at will. Meg loves it when we were out in the garden as she plays hide and seek running from bush to bush trying to give us a fright, she is such a delight to cat sit. The weather has been so typical for this area, warmish days, clear blue skies, very little breeze and cold nights. Their home has been just so comfortable to live in. It’s the first time for years I have had gas heating and cooking, so much faster and effective than electricity, plus they also have ducted central heating, which was appreciated in the colder mornings.

Cat petsitting is relaxingOur time at Wesley Hill has been very relaxing and allowed us to really ‘feel at home’. Even though we are starting to travel around more it is still nice to come back here to more familiar surrounds and people for a while. The main thing though has been the ease of living here at Jill and John’s, they have been wonderful homeowners.
But really our main thanks and memories will be saved for our little Megsie, she has been a real joy to spend time with and we would love to come cat sitting again some day.
