House Sitting Melbourne
Our first house sitting Melbourne adventure took us to a four-week house sit at Point Cook which is just a few kilometers from the very center of Melbourne CBD. I really liked and enjoyed Point Cook. It is a new satellite suburb with generous streetscapes, which allow masses of space for children to play without bothering neighbors. There is enough space for everyone and all kinds of lifestyles.
Our hosts were two gorgeous dogs called Reg and Meg. They are full of life and curiosity, they have different personalities but compliment each other perfectly.
Reg is the older statesman, the sensible one, and the mature one. Except when it comes time for a walk and he then gets quite excited. Meg loves playing with her ball and spends hours bringing it back so we can throw it again and again and again. While there we spent some time wandering around Williamstown which is quite near to Point Cook and really enjoyed being near the sea again. The smell of salt and sand was just wonderful. The area is surrounded by shopping centers, which is a massive change for us as there are very few in the country, we were spoiled for choice really. We went out walking with the dogs during the day and when the weather was too hot we went earlier in the morning. As we wandered with them around the streets most people had time to say ‘hello’ and we often stopped for a chat, there is nothing like walking a dog to bring out the chattiness in other people.
These are a loving couple of dogs, very affectionate and curious, full of excitement and fun. I know when we are in the area again it would be lovely to call in and say hello to them again as they are just so friendly.
Robyn and Tony took wonderful care of my two dogs while I was away overseas for a little over 3 weeks. It can be disconcerting making arrangements for the care of your beloved pets via a website, but after speaking with Robyn over the telephone, it was evident that she and Tony loved being around dogs and were quite experienced with dogs. We were able to arrange a meeting prior to my trip and we discussed the dogs habits and routines. They also made a good suggestion on arranging a treatment plan with the vet in advance, in the event that an incident occurred while I was away. My 10 year old dog, Reg, is beginning to show the signs of arthritis in one of his legs and we discussed various treatments on the market. Robyn suggested one particular treatment that had exhibited success with her dog. I felt very confident that my dogs were in good hands. My dogs are very loving and boisterous and Robyn and Tony took such good care of them. They sent me regular updates over email to let me know how the dogs were doing. The dogs were very happy and healthy when I returned and it was evident that they had a great time with Robyn and Tony. Both the house and garden were clean and well tended. SEPTEMBER 2010 - Well, here we are again with Meg and Reg, only for a few days but it has been fantastic to spend more time with them. At 11 we can see Reg is showing signs of slowing down but Meg at only 7 is still 'full on'. It is lovely have such delightful hosts and always a pleasure to come back and spend time with them again here at Point Cook.
